2011 DIGITAL GALLERY PART I

To begin, I wanted to make a small selection of digitals manufactured since last eNews {Jan-Mar 2011. Original idea — to be a small random selection. When I finished selecting what I thought was a good but small representative of digital efforts since Jan-Mar 2011, I couldn't believe the volume. I believe I never work enough. I have a continual feeling I need to make more work numerically. I hear this beat daily. When selecting a sampling of several months work for this update, I amaze myself on how prolific I really am. Why not! I am obsessed! I work every day for six or more hours. Working digitally within this time frame, a lot of work can get done. As for quality. I can't judge that. When it comes to culling my own productions, I like what I like today; hate it tomorrow; like it in a week; hate in in a month; and so on. Art to me, and for everyone who will engage in it, is all about connections. You either connect or you don't; as a maker or as a viewer. This is life. We all have to accept this or insanity will prevail.

What I find so fascinating about working with digital imaging, it seems to have no limits. Limitations are left only to ones imagination and abilities to use creatively the tools required for engagement.

At this time my digital imaging seems to fall simultaneously into the following categories. At times they will comingle.

1) documentation
2) manipulation; reorganize parts to either fix problems or to alter image to fit creative needs
3) composites: digital images are created from parts of other digital images and/or photos
4) digital painting: create digital images directly from software; no photo influence
5) combos: mixing the above freely; the crap shoot

How these digital images make them selves visible is also open to the imagination. To date I either print the image on canvas or paper using archival ink in an archival inkjet printer. Size can be either standard paper sizes or poster size made up by tiling the print out.
